Oval Shaker Boxes

Students will make a set of three or more Shaker oval boxes, using both hand and power tools. Finishing techniques will be presented. All experience levels are welcome. No woodworking background is required.

Constructed Wood Sculpture

Learn how basic wood working skills can be applied to create your own unique sculpture(s). Students will receive help in generating ideas for sculptures from their own personal experiences, making stylistic choices, developing plans, and turning them into constructed wood sculptures. All steps of construction from selecting to cutting, shaping, joining, and finishing wood for sculptures will be covered. Students can expect to make one or more sculptures. This workshop will include a visit to Charlie’s studio to see how he creates his constructed wood sculptures.

Woodturning Demonstration: Bowl Turning

Watch the process of creating a conventional bowl and a natural edge bowl on the lathe. This demonstration will include a discussion of wood selection and preparation, mounting and finishing as well as choosing and caring for woodturning tools.

Woodturning Demonstration: Faceplate and Spindle Turning

From rolling pins and mirror frames to lamps and tables, Brad will demonstrate his style of faceplate and spindle turning. The class will cover wood selection as well as gluing and sharpening techniques. No experience necessary.

Birdhouses and Feeders for the Environment

Learn how to make your own birdhouses and feeders. Students will be introduced to a number of designs specifically designed for a number of bird varieties. Build your own bird sanctuary while learning basic wood working skills and how to protect this important and beautiful animal. No experience required.
