KIDZ0616 Members $165/ Non-Members $205

Clay
Aven Tanner

Clay is one of the oldest and most loved art mediums. In the class students will learn basic hand building skills to create a functional and a sculptural work of art. They will learn many traditional methods such as pinching, coiling and slab building. They will also experience adding texture, painting and glazing the surface of their clay. Natural objects, fantasy and our imagination will be used as inspiration.

Clay
Jim Keller

Students in this class will make bowls and decorate them with their own design. They will make a box with a lid of mosaic tiles that they have made.

Polymer Clay
Teri Walters

It is time to play with polymer clay. Discover how amazing and versatile this art medium really is. Few tools (no specialized equipment) are needed to enjoy exploring with this material. There are so many ways to manipulate the clay and we will learn as many as possible along with the basics while completing an array of projects.

The Spirit of the Mask
Lora Leigh Giessler

This camp class is designed for young people who are fascinated by masks and by the curious power they evoke. Students will explore the mystical role the mask has played in ancient cultures. Together we will delve a little deeper into our selves to awaken the spirit of our masks. Each student will build his/her mask base using paper mache and will embellish it with an assortment of supplied materials and any special treasures brought from home. Once the mask emerges, we will give it the breath of life and the mask will be put into motion.

Adventures in Art: Drawing, Painting and More!
Marsha Paulekas

This workshop is an exciting child-guided exploration into art media and individual creativity. Students are encouraged to try different art forms and gravitate to their own preferences while also creating an original work of art. Students are encouraged to bring their vision to completion with individualized attention and technical assistance. (Ages 5-10 only)

Collagraph
Kate Anderson

Learn how to create designs in print-making with the collagraph (collage print) technique. Students will collage various materials onto a cardboard plate, creating their image. The plate will then be inked with a brayer or brush and transferred to paper. Students can expect to take home a number of prints made during class. (Ages 11-16 only)
