"Sixth Annual New Works Exhibit"
Now Showing in the Hayloft Gallery
August 1 to September 28, 2008

The exhibit theme, "New Works," includes work that has been completed in the last year or has not been previously exhibited. Artists from Floyd and the surrounding area are exhibiting almost 90 works.  New works and some new artists are the hallmark of this annual exhibit.  A new addition to the exhibit this year is a book of artists’ statements from the exhibiting artists.

Each exhibit will have a “People’s Choice” award of $50, sponsored by an anonymous donor, with gallery visitors invited to cast ballots for their favorite work during the exhibit.

The Hayloft Gallery is located in the upper level of our renovated barn. Its arched ceiling gives a sense of spaciousness that makes it one of the best showrooms in southwest Virginia. Climate control makes it a safe place for all media. The mission of the Hayloft Gallery is to provide an aesthetic environment to showcase the work of local and regional artists and artisans, to encourage, inspire and educate the growing artist and the public as to the value and importance of creative expression in a rural mountain culture, and to contribute to the quality and diversity of the local economy.
